I’m Nassos, and yes, you guessed right: I’m a guy in midlife.
I live in Milan, Italy with my wife, Aga, and our dog, Ollie. I’m a Hotelier, Certified Health Coach and Fitness Trainer, Master Athlete (I love sprinting), Midlife Blogger, Passionate Lifelong Learner, and a self-proclaimed Midlife Contrarian.
My mission is to debunk the myth of the midlife crisis, to challenge the related limiting beliefs and to empower men in midlife.
I have created this blog for men in midlife who feel there is much more ahead in life than slowing down and getting ready for retirement.
So, who is a Midlife Contrarian?
A Contrarian, by Wikipedia definition, is a person that takes up a contrary position, especially a position that is opposed to that of the majority.
A Midlife Contrarian is someone who challenges the popular limiting beliefs around midlife. He aims to be vibrant, present and powerful.
My journey
My personal journey started in 2012 when midlife “hit” me and when I realized that I was not heading in the right direction.
Since then, I have made adjustments to my priorities in life, improving my marriage, work, relationships with friends, colleagues
I quit smoking, adopted healthy eating habits, increased my physical activity, and as a result achieved a healthy BMI, losing 20% of my body weight.
All that made me feel better than ever before and encouraged me to do even more in the future.
It has also made me realize that common midlife lifestyle choices are not leading us in the right direction. Many of those lifestyle choices have an impact on our health, self-esteem, and the ones around us.
Thankfully, there are many men and women in midlife that have chosen alternative paths. These are the ones I call Midlife Contrarians. They have given me the inspiration to make the necessary lifestyle adjustments.
